When replacing your ISP-provided router or ONT with a generic XPON ONU stick, you may need to clone the original device's identity settings. Depending on your ISP and setup, this can include its MAC address.
For sticks such as the ODI DFP-34X-2C2, certain firmware versions also require a MACKEY (MAC_KEY) that matches the configured MAC address. When you clone the MAC address, you must generate and set the corresponding MACKEY too. The stick's existing key was generated for its previous address. This calculator handles that step for you:
- Enter the MAC address you want to clone from your ISP's device.
- Copy the formatted MAC address and generated MACKEY into your stick's corresponding fields.
- Keep the default salt,
hsgq1.9a, unless your firmware requires a different value. Custom salt is available under Advanced options.
The tool accepts common MAC address formats and calculates the key entirely in your browser. No software installation is needed, and the tool does not upload your MAC address.
Calculate a MACKEY from your MAC address. Everything runs in your browser. Your MAC address is never uploaded.
